Fall Concert THIS Friday!

We are excited to be presenting our Fall Concert on Friday, October 9, from 6pm to about 7:30pm. The weather looks like it will be perfect, partly cloudy and 78º a the start of the concert.

Concert attire: performers will wear a nice pair of jeans and this year’s orchestra T-shirt.

We will be performing outdoors, using the loading dock/ramp area as a stage. (See the attached photo. Parents and guests, when you arrive, you can tune in to 100.1 FM to listen to the concert. If you’re close enough, you can also just roll your windows down to listen.

2nd period Sinfonia Orchestra:
Tuning/rehearsal: 5:30.
Location: Outdoor stage setup (on the ramp)
Uncase behind the outdoor setup.

3rd period Camerata Orchestra:
Tuning/rehearsal: 5:45pm
Location: Orchestra Room
Take you case to the band hall and uncase in there.

4th period Philharmonic:
Tuning/rehearsal: 6:00pm
Location: Choir Room
Take case to choir room, uncase in there.

5th period Chamber Orchestra:
Tuning/rehearsal: 6:20pm
Location: Band Hall
Uncase in Band Hall

After you perform:
Case up. Cello/bass put instruments back in orchestra room. At that time, you may leave if you need to, or you may watch the rest of the concert. You may watch from the seating area in front of the stage or from your or your parents’ car.

We will have a booster club table set up with soft drinks, water, candy, and popcorn for sale. They will also be selling spirit items such as T-shirts and hoodies. If you purchased a yard sign, mask, or hoodie, they can be picked up during the concert.

Letter Jackets!

Congratulations to the students below for earning an orchestra letter for this year! The letter jacket rep will be on campus on Thursday at 3:00pm outside doors 31A and B (swim doors) to fit you for a letter jacket, if you choose to purchase one.

All-Region/All-State

Students auditioning for All-Region and All-State must sign up THIS week, before Friday. The sign-up form can be found here. After filling out the form, be sure to pay the $15 fee online via credit or debit card, or drop a check off in the orchestra room. Checks can be made out to MHS Orchestra.

The main differences this year are that All-Region and All-State auditions will be recorded by students on their own time and uploaded, and that a clinic and concert will not take place this year. Students are competing for the recognition and the patch only.

Orchestra Varsity Letter and Letter Jacket

Orchestra students have the opportunity to earn points throughout the year to earn a varsity letter. Student who earn a varsity letter will have the option to purchase a letter jacket.

Fill out the form below to earn points toward a varsity letter. Fill out points from LAST year only.

Do NOT guess. If you’re not sure about a question, select “no.” Entering points for events or awards you did not earn or participate in can invalidate your entire entry.

Final point calculations determined by the directors.

If you are eligible and interested in purchasing a letter jacket, the letter jacket representative will be on campus outside the swim doors (31A and B) on Thursday, September 24, at 3:00pm. Confirm eligibility with Mr. Harvick
